HOW DOES FARMING IN YAKIMA INFORM YOUR WINE & CRAFT?
I am a third generation farmer. It is in my blood. I’ve got 16 years in the grape growing business and I have been farming for over 40 years. At NHV, we grow our grapes organically and are LIVE and Salmon Safe certified. The vineyards in Naches Heights are special – different than most other sites around the Columbia Valley, more like the rich topsoil you’d find in the Palouse.
FROM APPLES TO GRAPES:
Sixteen years ago, I had a mid-life crisis and left the apple business for greener pastures, well, in this case, greener vineyards.

Growing the grapes – great wine starts in the vineyard. I grow 35 wine grapes in three AVAs in Washington.
